Hello all,

Jeremy from http://mobilesalthingyerfishing.activeboard.com/index.spark?forumID=124504&p=1

sent me over. The guys on our local fishing forum told me this was the place to get certified and that there may be some great specials right now. Can you let me know of the prices to get certified for a first timer?

bartendme,

Thanks for inquiring. Currently we are offering the open water certifcation for only $100.00. Pretty cheap isn't it....there is a catch. In order to learn to dive you will need a few personal items such as; mask, snorkle, fins booties, gloves knife and weights. The catch is you've got to buy them from us. The next question I usually get is, how much does that cost. The best I can tell you is I've seen people spend as little as $200 and I've seen people send as much as $600. If you were to budget somewhere in the middle of those two numbers you should be okay.

The reason I can't tell you exaclly what the costs are is that I don't tell my customers what to buy or what to like. For me its either you like it or you don't or it fits or it doesn't. If you don't like it or you it doesn't fit then you won't like to dive with it and that's not doing either one of us any good. Some shops do packages...I don't. It's my opinion that most of the time the items in packages are what the shops are trying to get rid of...so why would anybody else want it?

Hope this was helpful.

Jack

Thanks Jack, this sounds great. I understand the price point. However, we really have decent fins and snorkels. No BCD though. Without buying the goodies from you, what would this run me? As well, what would the days be? I am currently coaching basketball Tuesday and Thursday nights, as well, we have games on Saturdays. The last game would be on March 14th. Could I do this after that?

Our next class begins on March 16th so that shouldn't interfere with your basketball games. We normally hold classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks we do our open water dives on Saturday and Sunday. The normal price is $275 plus books...books are around $50. You stated that you all ready have "decent fins and snorkels", don't let these two items cost you $175. If you have all the other items in addition to the ones you mentioned I get it. But, if you've only got those two items the math doesn't add up for me. Call me anytime this week in the afternoon and we can talk more about it.
Thanks,
Jack
