One interesting thing I noticed about diving some of these sites last year was that if there were lots of snapper on the site most of them were barely legal or just under. If you dropped down on a site and saw nothing that was usually better because it meant that there was at least one sow inside. Not sure if vis had anything to do with anything but it was usually poor for the most part. Can't wait for snapper season to come back in and go at it again.

Here is another good link. It shows data from the buoys in the gulf (wave height, air & water temp)

I was trying to decide if we should abort the deep water trip today based on what buoy 42040 is reporting. Looking around on the web, I found these links. This one has a copy of the Beaufort Wind Scale, At the bottom of the page is the Weather Map Wind Symbols. http://www.marinewaypoints.com/marine/wind.shtml

Here is a link to the Wikipedia definition of the Beaufort Scale. This link also contains the Modern Scale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort_scale

I'm still trying to understand Dominant Wave Period (DPD) and Average Period (APD) and how I should use the them to help me with trip planning. Comments anyone?
